Laura Martin

Meditation did not come easy for Laura.  She could not figure out why anyone would ever want to meditate repeatedly -- it was like a roller derby in there!  She was convinced she was hopeless until mindfulness-based therapies started coming into the mental health world. Laura is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and learned how to deliver mindfulness skills to some of the most troubled populations in community mental health.  It did not take her long to realize she needed her own practice if she was going to teach this stuff!

Connecting with the Zen Community of Oregon, and learning how to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction have all be incredibly supportive in her own growth as a meditator and a meditation & mindfulness instructor.  Laura is particularly interested in helping those who think they can’t meditate find their way to practice.  Laura has experienced the enormous benefits of mindfulness in her own life, and has seen it in others’.  She believes that each and every person can reconnect with their inherent aliveness and awareness.

Laura is Certified to teach Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) by the Center for Mindfulness at UMass Medical School.  Contact Laura at or 503-542-4378.
