Service Description
January 8, 2022 9am - 4.30pm pst We will overview the origins of yoga, so that the practices are offered within the appropriate cultural context and with understanding of yoga’s foundations. This course will introduce participants to basic movements that can be accessed safely from supported, seated positions, and can therefore be offered during one to one counseling or in therapeutic counseling groups. This program will introduce trauma-sensitive approaches to movement and body awareness, and how facilitators can provide choices to participants to increase their sense of safety and agency. Participants will explore how to teach a variety of relaxation techniques, including basic meditations, breath practice and progressive muscle relaxation. All trainees will receive digital resources for continued structure and support in leading practices. This program includes 6 hours of training, with two short breaks and one 1-hour lunch break. Program cost is $100. Two scholarships are available to BIPOC applicants - please email info@unfoldportland.com for more information about this scholarship. This course is taught by E.B.
